Preparation for WSIS 2025

wsis 2025

The WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 will take place from 7 to 11 July 2025 at Palexpo in Geneva, Switzerland, co-hosted by the ITU and the Swiss Confederation, and co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP, and UNCTAD. The event is strengthened by the collaborative engagement of other United Nations entities with the mandate of implementing the WSIS Action Lines.

The WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025 will serve as a platform for discussion of the WSIS+20 review and the WSIS Action Lines and to take stock of the achievements and key trends, challenges and opportunities since the Geneva Plan of Action. It will also highlight the way forward in preparation for the second final review by the UN General Assembly.

DDN has been involved in the open consultations process for WSIS. The Open Consultation Process (OCP) is an open and inclusive consultation with WSIS stakeholders aimed at preparing for the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025. This process is designed to help shape the event program, identify gaps in the implementation of the Geneva Plan of Action and the WSIS Action Lines, and contribute to the WSIS+20 review process.

So far, three consultations were conducted, and the fourth Fourth Meeting will be in April 3rd with a final brief on June 10th.

All stakeholders are encouraged to actively engage.

DDN is sending two delegates to attend WSIS as we prepare for a panel talk.
